Do we live to work or do we work to live?

Woman posing work

This is the question that creeps in
On Monday mornings while I sit
Typing and clicking away on a tiny laptop screen

And along with my mundane tasks—
Checking mail, organizing files, pouring coffee in my boss’s flask—
My thoughts fly away

To dreams of a better day
Taking me to ‘what ifs’ and ‘could’ve beens’
Had I not chased around someone else’s dream

If I had instead, listened to the voice within
Would I have been living to work
Or working to live?
